Rob Romero has 30 years of investment research, and technology marketing, and engineering experience. Since 2004, Mr. Romero has served as CEO and Portfolio Manager of Connective Capital Management, investing in a hedge portfolio of high growth technology, biotech, and emerging energy companies. His professional experience also includes leading product management at Netsys, acquired by Cisco, co-founder of eVoice, sold to AOL in 2001, and founder of Connective Capital Ventures. Mr Romero is co-founder of Civic Health Project, an anti-polarization initiative. Mr. Romero holds a BS EE, a BA Economics, and an MS Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University.
Thomas K. Y. Hor is the Co-Portfolio Manager covering multiple sectors from renewable energy to technology. Thomas brings over ten years of experience in investing and operations. He was an Analyst/Portfolio Manager at Natura Capital, Investment Banker at Morgan Stanley and Business Development Manager at AMD/Spansion (now Cypress Semiconductor). In addition, Thomas has held engineering positions at PMC-Sierra. Thomas holds a BASc in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia; an MASc in Electrical Engineering from Simon Fraser University; and an MBA from London Business School.
Tao Long is the Portfolio Manager for Systematic Strategies and a Senior Research Analyst covering technology-related sectors (semiconductor, semi equipment, telecom, digital media). Tao brings six years of experience in equity research, investing and systematic analysis and construction of portfolios, and over a decade of semiconductor industry experience. Prior to Connective Capital Management, Tao was deeply involved in data encryption, wireless communications and network infrastructure markets at Broadcom and Infineon. Tao holds a BS with honors in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Tao is a CFA and CAIA charterholder.
Calvin Jiang is an analyst covering the U.S. and emerging markets. He previously worked for an investment fund in Vancouver, with a fundamental focus. He has a BCOM in Finance from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Avanish Singh joined the firm in February 2021 as a back office analyst and our compliance officer with over five years of experience in the hedge fund industry. He graduated from Mumbai University with a Bachelor of management studies and also completed all three-levels of the CFA exams. Prior to joining the firm, Avanish was a Manager at Arcesium and a Senior Analyst at Viteos (now an Intertrust Group company).
Shan Huang is the trader for Connective Capital Management. He has a Master’s degree in Finance from University of San Francisco and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and physics from Tsinghua University.
Maria Nunez, Office Manager & Investor Relations Maria Nunez handles investor relations and office management at CCM. She previously worked as OM for a real state agency for 5 years and was OM for LATAM office for a testing and certification services LLC for 4 years. Maria has studies in business management from Austral University of Argentina.
