Rob Romero, Portfolio Manager

Rob Romero has almost 30 years of investment, marketing, and engineering experience in the technology space. For the last 12 years, Mr. Romero has served as CEO and Portfolio Manager for Connective Capital Management, investing in a hedged portfolio of high growth technology and emerging energy companies. His professional experience also includes engineering & management roles at Baldur, TCSI, Bay Networks, Netsys, and Cisco. Mr. Romero also co-founded and served as VP of Marketing at eVoice, a leading voicemail provider, sold to AOL in 2001, and founded Connective Capital Ventures, which invested in technology startups such as Vonage and IronPort. Mr. Romero holds a BS in EE, a BA in Economics, and an MS in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University.

Thomas K.Y. Hor, co-Portfolio Manager

Thomas K. Y. Hor is the Co-Portfolio Manager covering multiple sectors from renewable energy to technology. Thomas brings over ten years of experience in investing and operations. He was an Analyst/Portfolio Manager at Natura Capital, Investment Banker at Morgan Stanley and Business Development Manager at AMD/Spansion (now Cypress Semiconductor). In addition, Thomas has held engineering positions at PMC-Sierra. Thomas holds a BASc in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia; an MASc in Electrical Engineering from Simon Fraser University; and an MBA from London Business School.

Tao Long, Portfolio Manager for Systematic Strategy

Tao Long is the Portfolio Manager for Systematic Strategy and a Senior Research Analyst covering technology-related sectors (semiconductor, semi equipment, telecom, digital media). Tao brings six years of experience in equity research, investing and systematic analysis and construction of portfolios, and over a decade of semiconductor industry experience. Prior to Connective Capital Management, Tao was deeply involved in data encryption, wireless communications and network infrastructure markets at Broadcom and Infineon. Tao holds a BS with honors in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Tao is a CFA and CAIA charterholder.

Calvin Jiang, Economic Analyst

Calvin Jiang is an Economic Analyst covering the U.S. and emerging markets. He previously worked for an investment fund in Vancouver, with a fundamental focus. He has a BCOM in Finance from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Operations Team

Andrew Kellar, Trading and Risk Management

Andrew Kellar is the trader for Connective Capital Management. He has been in the finance field for over five years, bringing with him his experience as a trader and portfolio administrator. Andrew has a BA in Economics from John Hopkins University.


Vanessa Xie, Fund Administrator & Operations Analyst

Vanessa Xie is the Fund administrator & Operations Analyst for Connective Capital Management. She is responsible for fund accounting, investor correspondence, office administration, and tax reporting. She has a BS in Financial Actuarial Math from the University of California, Los Angeles.
